The Spinal Tap star has joined the cast as Ivan the Terrible for the comedy adventure, officially titled Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian.

Also joining the cast are Jon Bernthal (Al Capone), Bill Hader (Gen. George Armstrong Custer) and French actor Alain Chabat (Napoleon).

The film, directed by Shawn Levy, reunites lead Ben Stiller with castmates Robin Williams, Ricky Gervais and Owen Wilson.

Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon, who penned both Museum films, will make a cameo in the sequel, playing the Wright brothers.

Museum was a boxoffice success for Fox, grossing $574 million worldwide. With the Smithsonian as the centerpiece, the studio and Levy kicked the current production up a notch by getting the rare chance to film portions of the movie in the Smithsonian Institute in Washington.

The film is shooting in Vancouver, with a behind-the-scenes team that includes director of photography John Schwartzman (Pearl Harbor), editors Don Zimmerman and Dean Zimmerman (Rush Hour 3), production designer Claude Pare (The Aviator) and costume designer Marlene Stewart (Tropic Thunder).

We are going to put together a Birthday Project that consists of your letters, poetry, fan art and photographs inspired by Amy Adams; perhaps to give something back for all of the amazing films and entertainment that she has provided us throughout the years. The book will be available electronically on this website and will also be mailed to Amy herself.

Note: We were supposed to launch a separate website for the project earlier this week. But due to technical problems, we have been unable to do so yet. We are hoping to launch it within the next week or two but wanted to kick off the project now so you can start preparing your entries. They will all be added on the special site once we manage to get it online.

Why a Birthday Project?

What is a Birthday Project?

This year we are going to put together an electronic birthday project that consists of your letters, poetry, fan art, photographs (etc) inspired by Amy Adams. All contributions are to be emailed to us, the staff, by July 25, 2008. The entries will be published here on the site. We will also print out all of the entries, a put together a one-of-a-kind, hand-made book and mail it to Amy.

Will Amy see my entry?

We will send both the link and the book itself to Amy so she can have a browse herself if she so wishes. Obviously we cannot gurantee that she will read them all but at least we will try our very best!

All entries should include a name / nickname (does not have to be a full name) and country of residence.

All entries should be in English languange.

What is NOT allowed?

» Obviously anything disrespectful or intrusive.

» Do not ask for Amy to write you back. This is a way for us to give something to her, not for us to ask her for something.

The modern-day fairytale took home three awards: best fantasy film, best actress, which went to its star Amy Adams, and best music, which went to composer Alan Menken.

Amy Adams had filmed her film debut Drop Dead Gorgeous in Minnesota, where she was working on dinner theater. She made the move to Los Angeles to pursue acting on screen and landed the role of the fabulously evil Kathryn Merteuil in the TV series Manchester Prep. Unfortunately the show never fully took off and was later on released on DVD as Cruel Intentions 2.

I’ve added some very rare shots of Amy making appearances in the year 1999. On top of this, I’ve uploaded some lesser seen yearbook photos of her. Enjoy these vintage treats - I hope they’re new to you like they’re to me!

Production on the biggest movie to shoot here this summer is finally getting underway. The mega-budget Night at the Museum 2: Escape from the Smithsonian will be shooting here for the next three months, and will bring a plethora of stars to our city. Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Amy Adams, Dick Van Dyke, Hank Azaria and Ricky Gervais will all make appearances in the comedy sequel. The first movie was shot here a couple of years ago, and had one of the largest-ever budgets for a Vancouver-made movie.

Amy Adams is featured in Entertainment Weekly’s newest issue with The Rock on the cover. She joins a new generation of stars (James McAvoy, Shia LeBeouf, Ellen Page, etc.) praised by studio execs, producers, and agents to top the Next A-list.

Edit from Mycah: I have added the scans from the magazine. There is not a new photoshoot picture or anything, but it’s still really interesting to see who was chosen as the next top of the crop! Amy, and many of the others, are some of my other very favorites so I’m thrilled they are getting more recognition this way!

I wanted to make a quick update before I go. I’ve added some rare photos of Amy at Jennifer Klein’s Day of Indulgence back in August 2007. She looked very natural and incredibly beautiful. These are some of my fave ‘event’ pics of her. Here are some quotes regarding the event, courtesy of InStyle:

Our jet setting actress is back home in Los Angeles. She was spotted attending the opening night of “A Chorus Line” on yesterday evening at the The Ahmanson Theatre. I’ve added the first photo from this event.

However, Amy Adams (the star of Disney’s Enchanted) was there and very sweetly praised the show. I met her and we were able to talk about how her first theater gig was playing Kristine in A Chorus Line (!!!).
